The World According to Krista…..you can't make this stuff up
I know, I know, I've been asked a hundred times when I was going to update this. I do think about it but then the hundred other things come up and then...here we are ,but this was just too funny. Later on I'll have to update what's been going on in our crazy lives these past few months.
I come home the other day and Krista comes up to me and tells me "I wrapped tape around my finger today", and I'm wondering, "Ok...where is she going with this". Will had recently broken his finger and had his fingers wrapped in coban for 4 weeks so I thought she was going there...wrong.
She begins describing this hang nail she has had on her finger and that she decided to wrap tape around her finger to keep it from getting caught on things {pretty smart actually...had a few hang nails in my day}....she then goes on  and states "but I took the tape off, but don't worry, I didn't put it in the trash". Well she had my attention at this point so I asked, "Why didn't you throw it in the trash?". Very seriously she said, "so they couldn't steal my identity". Confused I said, "how would they steal your identity?" and she said, "well they could get my fingerprints off the tape and then steal my identity". {once again...smart girl, but seriously, what kind of shows has she been watching??} I calmly explained that as wise as that sounded that I doubt anyone would be trying to steal her identity by taking her fingerprints of f the tape.  So she nodded her head, walked away and apparently threw away the tape.
So....later that evening Henry comes home and I stupidly thought "I think I'll share this cute story with Henry, he'd get a kick out of it, right?" So I tell him, and he laughs, asked where she got that idea and then left the room. Shortly after I hear Henry talking to Krista in the front room and then her crying out "but mom said to...", I 'm thinking, "what did he say to her about the tape".  So I go out there to see whats going on and apparently he had asked  about the hang nail . She explained about the tape ...he asked what she did with the tape....when she told him he exclaimed "Aaagh, you threw it away!!" to which she promptly cried out  in horror "Well mom said to!"  I grabbed her and gave him the evil eye {you know which one I'm talking about} and took her to my room to console her. Henry later came in and, once again, gave him that eye, and said "What were you doing?"  He looked at me and said, "I just wanted to hear her say it....she never tells me those cute funny things". Well...now he knows why!

Happy Veteran’s Day

My nephew, who recently went active duty Army, posted this on his facebook account this AM and I absolutely loved it:
“A veteran is someone, who at one point in their life, wrote a blank check payable to the United States for an amount up to, and including, their life. That is beyond honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer remember that fact. Post this if you are a veteran, know a veteran, love a veteran or support the troops”
Well, I am not a veteran, but I not only support the troops but I know and love a veteran…my dad…who served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam and I post this in his honor. I love you dad and miss you tons!!!
Happy Veterans Day!

{October 16}
I do..
Krista and I traveled to the big metropolis of Manti Utah to attend my brother's wedding. The ceremony was lovely but turned into a 1man {or 1 pint sized wee one's} show as Mattie decided this was {her} day

She started the ceremony on the sideline with the other bridesmaids but quickly squirmed her way between her parents...she danced, she waved, and at one point did cross her arms to pray {see above} she shushed us if we got too loud , but as soon as we tried to get her to be a little quieter she loudly whispered "I'm supposed to be on the stage!" This was definitely {her} day!

For the last 2 years I've gotten the priviledge to get up at the crack of dawn to spend the day with these good people (well, some old faces & some new ones)
to be inspired by these good people

Miss her...

So, I've been a slacker, no pun intended. I love to spend time blog stalking and then each time I do I think, why can't I be more like them. So, I figured now was as good a time as any, on a day I spend reflecting back on one we lost...one we lost way too soon. September 28th is the birthday of my niece Amanda. Amanda was a spunky, fiesty spitfire of a girl who, unfortunately, wasn't able to live out her life to discover who she could have become. She never went to school, never went on a first date or learned to drive a car, never graduated from high school, never went off to college, never married or had the priviledge of becoming a mother. She never got to experience the life that we all take for granted and I miss her. She was taken from us tragically and without warning just a mere three weeks after turning four...and today I think about her and share her with you. Happy Birthday Amanda!

Christmas 2009

Christmas has always been my favorite holiday. It's one of the only times during the year when my whole family gets together. This year we held out annual gathering at Scott's house where we had tons of fun and great food!

Usually we don't hold the Slack party til the first of January after everything has calmed down but this year we held it the day after Christmas here in Mesquite at Dave & Ginger's house. Once again great fun with equally good food.
